The NCAA Division I Baseball Championship is a 64-team double-elimination tournament held annually to determine the national champion of college baseball. The tournament is organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and is held on college campuses across the United States in June.
The first NCAA Division I Baseball Championship was held in 1947. The current format of the tournament which was first adopted in 1999 consists of four regional tournaments each consisting of four teams two “super regionals” each consisting of eight teams and the College World Series (CWS) a double-elimination tournament involving the sixteen remaining teams.
The CWS is held in Omaha Nebraska. The eight teams are split into two four-team brackets with the winners of each bracket meeting in a best-of-three championship series.
