A little league baseball game typically lasts between two and three hours depending on the age group of the players and the level of competition. However regulation games must be at least six innings long and if one team is ahead by ten or more runs after four innings the game can be called off early.
Most little league games are played on a field that has a diamond shape with bases at each corner. The game is played by each team taking turns batting and fielding. The team that is batting is trying to score runs and the team that is fielding is trying to prevent runs from being scored. Runs are scored when a batter hits the ball and safely gets to one of the bases and then another player on the batting team gets to home plate. Outs are when a batter is out or when a player on the batting team is tagged out. An out is also when a ball is caught by a fielder before it hits the ground.
The game is over when one team has more runs than the other team or when the last inning is over. The last inning is typically the ninth inning but if one team is ahead by a lot of runs the game can be called off early.
